Marriage Enrichment
The marital enrichment class holds two hours of instruction on basic communication enhancement skills, including direct communication, active listening, feeling sharing, and "I" messages. The third hour focuses on instruction on marital problem solving procedures such as brainstorming, compromise. solution selection, and new behavior enhancement.
Marital & Family Education
Our classes are based in solid outcome research that indicates regular use of the techniques offered will reduce marital and family conflict, increase communication and problem solving, and reduce the risk of family break-up. Our workshops and classes are not "therapy groups". Although we practice the skills being taught, participants are not required to disclose their issues. The key is to learn these skills before difficulties emerge. The skill sets are helpful regardless of your age, number of years married, number of children, or number of years as a parent.
Parent Education
Our parent education curriculum is based on a program called "Responsive Discipline" from Kansas State University. It emphasizes teaching and filling a parental tool box with three doors; prevention, guidance, and consequences.
Other Workshops
Pre-marital Workshops, Marriage Enrichment Workshops, and Parenting Classes occur at least quarterly. If workshop dates are not listed, please call us to get a schedule or to be placed on a waiting list.
