Counseling is the act of two individuals sharing their life experiences in a way that open's new possibilities for health and growth. I see our physical, spiritual, mental and social health as inseperable. After completing my bachelor degree in Pastoral Theology and working with college students at Boise State University I found that my spiritually heavy training was lacking some practical and scientific balance. I realized that one on one meetings have the greatest opportunity for growth. It was then that I began pursuing my Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Liberty University. Now that my degree is complete I have found that I enjoy the change which comes from relationship. This is why I enjoy Marriage Counseling most; because marriage is a long term relationship which requires a commitment to personal change in order for lasting love to grow. Through training and being married for 10 years to a wonderful woman, I have found that marriage is one of the toughest and most rewarding aspects of life.

Susan Oldenkamp, LPC, NCC
Staff Counselor

Tolstoy said, "Only people who are capable of loving strongly can also suffer great sorrow; but the same necessity of loving serves to counteract their grief and heal them."

It is my job to enter into a relationship built on trust, respect and genuine positive regard, where we can look at life's situations from many angles in order to gain new perspectives. This is how relationship can counteract grief and can heal.

It is through that counseling relationship, and that healing, that I hope to work myself out of a job. I wish to be a stop on your journey in life, where you find relief and solace in the counseling relationship. It is a time to learn and grow, finding that you have the strength to continue on the journey of life.

Heather Tustison, LCPC

Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Marriage and Family Counselor
Couples, Families, Children, Adolescents, Anger Management, Addictions and Christian Counseling.
My fascination with counseling began while working in a private child/adolescent residential facility during my freshman year in college. I learned that I could make a difference in those children’s lives through open discussions encouraging them to overcome, rather than be victim to their circumstance.

I have been given a variety of opportunities to work with a vast diversity of populations, of which, I find myself grateful for my first stepping stone.

Since that first position, I have ventured into several areas of expertise. I have worked as a Marriage and Family Counselor, Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program Therapist for Chemical Dependency, Anger Management Professor and Prevention Interventionist.

Brian Read, LPC, NCC

Staff Counselor

briaread@cableone.net

I believe in possibilities. I believe that change is always possible, that alternatives exist, and that everyone has choices that they can make regarding their circumstances. With that in mind, my approach to couneling stems from Reality Therapy, which is focused on where people are at now and the choices they have before them. In a non-judgemental and non-coercive way, I seek to help people identify those choices.
